Description
Have you ever thought of participating in your neighbourhood scavenger hunt but you just can’t imagine yourself doing all that running? Well good news, you can now experience that through a boardgame! Just prep your hands (and mind!) to do all the heavy lifting moving your cute 3-inch character across the table through nostalgic Kaki Limas of Penang!
Kaki Lima is a strategy game about pedestrians navigating the 5-foot walkways of Georgetown Penang. Pick a fun character and a task list, then race your friends to complete your errands strategically, which includes visiting heritage sites, savoring famous cuisines, and gathering with friends. However, like in real life, not all Kaki Lima is accessible, therefor you have to collaborate in unblocking paths. You see it’s not just speed you need, efforts towards the community helps you score points.
We think game is a great metaphor for real life where we sometimes find ourselves in situations where we struggle to strike a balance between being efficient while also carving time to invest in community and our environment. Do you naturally gravitate towards focussing on the people or the tasks first? We encourage you to have a go at Kaki Lima to to uncover your tendencies.
Kaki Lima is developed by Goh Choon Ean, a Malaysian boardgame enthusiast turned boardgame designer that we (Rojak Culture) are so honored to get to know and support! She developed Kaki Lima to serve as a tool to facilitate the awareness and importance of honoring our public shared spaces and to highlight community values.
