While expansion is the hallmark of “Seafarers” and “Cities & Knights” stands out because of its intricacy, “Traders & Barbarians” is characterized by variation.

Catan: Traders & Barbarians (5th Edition) is the 3rd expansion for Catan (5th Edition). It is a compilation of small expansions and variants. It is independent of the Seafarers and Cities & Knights expansions, but can be combined with them.

This compilation includes 5 scenarios:

  • The Fishermen of Catan
  • The Rivers of Catan
  • The Great Caravan
  • Barbarian Invasion – Barbarians are invading Catan and the players have to try to stop them with new knight pieces.
  • Traders & Barbarians – You get new hexes: castle, glass, and marble. You get gold and victory points for finishing tasks in the castle, but to do so, you must travel back and forth to the castle on roads and undeveloped paths. There are barbarians who interfere with trade routes.

It also includes 4 minor variants:

  • 2-Player Rules
  • Catan Event Cards
  • The Harbormaster Card
  • Friendly Robber Rules

NOTE This is not a full game, Catan (5th Edition) is required for play.
